In this workshop, we will analyze a given facade for incident solar radiation using DIVA, and design and control a custom grasshopper facade component informed by our initial analysis. We will then re-analyze our surface and review the results of our intervention. DIVA-for-Rhino is a highly optimized and respected daylighting and energy modeling plug-in for Rhino.

You will need a couple of things to do this tutorial.  First you will need at least the 30-day trial version of DIVA for Rhino/Grasshopper which can be downloaded here.  The install is pretty involved so make sure you check out their install guide.  Be careful to pay attention to the differences between Rhino4 and Rhino5 in their guide and make sure you follow the correct steps.  You will also need to install the DIVA for Grasshopper plugin, you can find the install instructions for it here.  This tutorial covers a specific workflow.  For more info on setting up a model and just using DIVA in general, check out their user guide and video tutorials.

For this tutorial, be sure to download the Rhino DemoSite.3dm file and Grasshopper insolation.gh file below.  If you are using Rhino V4 grab the DemoSiteV4.3dm file.

Hey Zach, I using this example for exercise, but something is change I think so, when I open the insolation file for GH some components are old ( I am not so much good in GH) and is this maybe have influence on final results for diva; I can not get same results like in this tutorial.
Me again just to say that I solved the problem, all best
thanks a lot for such a useful tutorial.
